It is always good to hear from folks who are thinking about moving East. I don't think you will regret it, but then I'm from here.
As for house prices, they vary from 160K to 400K so let me know what type, size, age, etc of house that you are looking for.
I am no longer selling real estate but I can answer your questions and steer you in the right direction.
I have a friend who is one of the top realtors in Fredericton, so have a look at her site:
www.frederictonhomes.com.
Rebecca is very professional and will be able to find you the perfect home.

Hi. Born and raised on the prairies but thinking about moving to Fredericton for a slower pace of life. I Love history, husband loves fishing and seafood. He is a grain hauler and I am an LPN nurse. Can you enlighten me at big about average house prices just outside the city or at the perimeter of city limits. And whether the hospital employs LPN nurses.
Thank you

Hi Kevin.
I agree, if you spent the last 25 years in Alberta, you have to come home.
A hobby farm with a woodlot is not impossible, but you would not be real close to all the amenities.
For instance, you may find yourself on the Royal Road, with a 10 to 15 minute drive into town.
There is still no grid lock in Fredericton, but we do have a rush hour from 4.30 to 5.

Let me know just what your budget is, and what area you want to be in, and I will see what I can do.

It's funny you mention the prices Frankie, I wrote a piece about it a while back where I looked at what you could get in Fredericton vs. Vancouver for the same money. It's online at http://thisismyurl.com/67/crack-house-vs-mansion/ if you're interested.

Hi David, It is always good to hear from someone on the Miramichi.
Do you have your place listed now?
I am not actually selling real estate anymore, but I can refer you to a good realtor.

Greetings, I'm thinking of selling property (North West, Miramichi)Two story house, large barn, and appox.85 acre woodlot
appox. 85 acres of woodlot. Great privacy, moose country, and the North West Miramichi River flows by--open water--for fishing the world famous Atlantic salmon.
I'm thinking of moving to Fredericton (or close to Fredericton)

Hi Joseph and Nicole, it is good to hear from you.
As for your question regarding the down payment, unfortunately there is no program to help with that. However, if you have an RSP, you may use that to help with the down payment. The government will require that you pay it back, but they will allow you to pay it over time.
You stated that you were meeting with a mortgage person today, so I am sure they were able to give you all of this information.
I am also glad that you are talking to a realtor regarding this purchase, it is very important to be represented. Make sure everything is legal.
And, don't forget to have an inspection done, either by an inspector or someone you know who is qualified to look for problems with the structure, electrical, plumbing etc.
Good luck with your purchase and if you have any questions, let me know.
