CFB Gagetown is one of the largest military bases in Canada. In an area of 1100 sg. kilometres and situated 20 kms from the City of Fredericton, New brunswick’s provincial capital, CFB Gagetown is adjacent to the Town Of Oromocto. The Base enjoys a unique and close relationship with Oromocto, in fact many of the military personnel live in the town.
The combined Town of Oromocto/CFB Gagetown population is approximately ten thousand, of which 70 percent are military personnel and their dependants. The base itself employs approximately 4000 military members and 700 civilians. Being such a large employer, CFB Gagetown is a significant contributor to the economy of surrounding communities and the province.
There are two key components at CFB Gagetwon, 3 Area Support Group and CTC Gagetown Combat Training Centre.
CFB Gagetown is one of the rare places where civilian and military communities are integrated in most aspects of life, for the benefit of everyone.
Oromocto is known as “Canada’s Model Town”, a progressive and prosperous community developed around Canada’s Canadian Forces Base Gagetown.
Indeed, Oromocto and Fredericton are both excellent communities and great places to live.
